Kent Maxx Review [Detailed]
First let’s look at the design and build quality of this water purifier.
Design and Build Quality
Kent Maxx comes is built with ABS Food grade plastic which is non-toxic and durable. You can choose to mount it on the wall or place it on kitchen counter as per your convenience. It comes with decently large 8 litre water storage tank.
It also comes with 2 LED indicators for ease of use. A sturdy water dispensing tap is attached at the bottom of the tank
Now let’s take a look at its purification.
Kent Maxx comes with UV and UF water purification technologies along with activated pre-carbon filter. Let’s go through their features.
Activated Carbon Pre-filter
Activated carob pre-filter absorbs harmful chlorine and chlorine by-products present in the water.
Municipal water is treated with chlorine for purification, which can sometimes leave excess chlorine and it by-products in the water. Activated carbon filter removes these contaminants from water. Also, this filter absorbs organic compounds which are responsible for bad tase and odour to give odourless and taste-free water.
Ultrafiltration uses UF membrane to purify water. This membrane consists of minute pores of size 0.1 microns (1 micron = 0.0001 cms).
This membrane separates bacteria, cysts and suspended particles from water. It is enough for water with TDS less than 200 PPM.
After physical impurities are removed from water, it is treated with UV-C radiation (ultraviolet-c radiation). When the water passes through UV chamber, micro-organisms such as bacteria and viruses are deactivated. This makes water safe for drinking.
You are free to mount it on a wall or on a table-top / kitchen-counter. Also its 6.1 kg weight makes it quite light to place it anywhere easily. However, we recommend mounting it on wall for convenience.
Water storage tank
Kent Maxx is equipped with a large 7 litre water storage tank. Any tank with capacity of 7 or more litres is decent enough for most of the Indian households. Large water tank will help you during power cuts. Also, detachable tank means that cleaning it is easy and can be done without help from professionals.
It comes with filter change alarm and UV fail alarm. These alarm will indicate you when life of these filters is over they are ready for replacement. Usually, these filters work for at least one year.
High Intensity UV bulb
Usually water purifiers come with 8 watt UV bulb but Kent Maxx is equipped with powerful 11 watt UV bulb which is more than sufficient in killing harmful bacteria, protozoa, viruses etc. from the water.
There is no need to switch the purifier on and off manually because it is equipped with auto on/off operation. It means that the purifier will automatically switch off when the tank is full and it will restart when water level decreases.
The filtration speed of this water purifier is high 60 litres per minute, which means 1 litre per minute. This is very high speed. Compared to RO water purifiers it is around 3 to 4 times high speed.
Built in SMPS
Kent Maxx comes with a built-in SMPS.
SMPS works as a voltage stabilizer ensuring no harm even during voltage fluctuations.
Kent Maxx’ maintenance cost is not high because it does not have RO technology. You will have to replace UF filter, UV lamp and carbon filter once a year. This should not cost more than 1,000 rupees
Kent Maxx comes with a warranty of 1 year with free extended services warranty of 3 years.
